HEART CENTERED — Colorado Springs, CO

I designed and painted this mural in 2024 for Colorado Spring’s 26th Annual Art on the Streets Festival. The exhibition brings in a dozen or so artists each year to paint murals and install sculptures in downtown Colorado Springs, Colorado.

My mural tells a nuanced story about accessing a meditative state through inner reflection and intentional focus on internal emotions. The heart is often referred to as the spiritual center, and as an access point to the realm of peace and unconditional love — which to me represents the home of divinity.

Using icons and symbolism, my mural gives direct clues on how to access this meditative state: by being in nature, listening to the inner child, quieting the mind and the external world, tuning into our emotional state, recognizing duality, and striving to create balance of our own capacity for chaos and peace. This practice leads to deeper knowledge of the self beyond the ego, a better connection to intuitive wisdom, balance of our nervous system, personal healing, mental clarity, spiritual strength, and emotional stability.
