POLLINATOR MURAL
I designed and painted this mural in 2023 at Denver Premium Outlets in Thornton, Colorado. This design is intended to communicate aspects of regeneration and sustainability while also telling stories about life cycles that exist in nature. Much of this design shows the symbiotic relationships between plants and pollinating species, all of which play an important role in perpetuating the life cycles of native flowers, plants, and food crops in the state of Colorado.
The circular cycles of each pollinator reveal another layer of depth, allowing us to see the passage of time - seasonal, annual, and longer. These cycles show nature's tendency to sustain itself cyclically. Nature provides many examples of seasonal change, symbiotic growth, as well as long-term sustainability. The more we observe and study nature, the more likely we are to recognize what it really means to be sustainable. What lessons can nature teach us about ourselves, our collective relationship with our world, and long-term sustainability?
If you look closely, you will see that the entire mural design is structured around the sacred geometrical pattern known as the “seed of life”, a pattern that reoccurs throughout nature, imprinting itself into the forms of snowflakes, sunflowers, pinecones, and other microorganisms.
Mural was created in Partnership with Denver’s Butterfly Pavilion and Denver Premium Outlets.
